Attention: Preference will be given to students who study for a teaching degree when registering for this course. Registration for all others is therefore subject to change. As a teaching degree student, please tick off deparment 21 (education).
Have you already been accepted into a study abroad program, have you just applied, or are you only thinking about studying abroad in the future? This class will prepare you for whatever study abroad adventure might lie ahead of you.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will have learned how to write an international CV or resume and how to compose a convincing letter of motivation. You will practice a short presentation and expressing your opinion clearly but politely in discussions or debates. You will also be able to effectively communicate on campus (in speaking and writing), be it with your academic advisors or your fellow students. Importantly, you will develop a deep understanding and respect for cultural peculiarities within different countries or regions, fostering a sense of open-mindedness and respect.
The interactive nature of the course offers students the opportunity to practice essential language and intercultural skills in preparation for the challenges that studying abroad presents:
- Writing (Letter of motivation, CV, emails)
- A short presentation
- Active participation in debates/discussions
- Intercultural role plays
Upon completion of the course, you will also obtain a DAAD Language Certificate, which may need for your study abroad application.
