ILIAS: Basics, Learning Modules, Exercises

This workshop aims at teaching the skills necessary for creating fully digital language courses in ILIAS. It consists of three separate blocks:

Basics

• What kinds of objects does ILIAS provide? What kind of functionality?
• How do I create, edit, and delete objects inside an ILIAS course?
• How do I structure, sort, and present Objects inside ILIAS courses?
• How do I create areas for students to upload their own files?
• How do chats and forums work?
• How do I embed text, images, and video files inside pages? How do I align them the way I want to?
• Where do I find help, tutorials, and manuals?

Learning Modules

• When would I use learning modules? What's the difference between learning modules, tests, and exercises?
• How are learning modules structured?
• What are the different types of questions I can create?
• How do I create and edit questions of different types?
• What's the difference between questions collected in pools and those that only exist inside the learning module?
• How do I combine questions with media objects (video, audio, images)?

Exercises

• What are some of the use cases for exercises?
• What are the different types of exercises and what's the difference between them?
• How can I use exercises to manage homework or midterm exams?
